Just what is Laredo Stepping Stone?
Laredo Stepping Stone Ministries is an interdenominational missions
facilitation organization founded by a group of Godly businessmen here
in Laredo, Tx. who had a heart for facilitating missions by ministering
to the needs of missionaries and mission teams serving in Mexico as
well as the needy here at the Frontera. Stepping Stone is instrumental
in providing temporary housing to missionaries coming across the border
to resupply, on their way into or out of the states for
furlough/itineration, or in need of a short “refreshing and refilling”
from their work in Mexico. We are also available for overnight housing
to groups headed into or out of Mexico on short term trips or for
groups working at the border who need a base camp and meals. We provide
storage space for donations of food, clothing, medical supplies, etc.
that the missionaries can’t get across the border in bulk or don’t have
room for all in one trip. We give them things through our missions
closet such as food, hygiene supplies, schooling supplies, clothing,
housewares, etc. at no charge . This frees up their funds for materials
and supplies they require to spread the gospel in Mexico. We also
supply them with these types of items for the Mexican people to be
distributed in their area. We can always use these things, so if you
want an extra project for your group, ask us for a list of currently
needed items you can donate. Our ministry to the community here in
Laredo/Nuevo Laredo includes providing meals, clothing, a food pantry,
etc. God is constantly changing the vision here and bringing new things
for us to do to help in what we feel is the heartbeat of God, missions!
Mex Quest International is the division of Stepping Stone run by Rick
and Kim Hall that arranges full service short term mission trips for
youth groups, college career groups and adult work groups that come to
work specifically with Stepping Stone along the Frotera.
Why are we here?
Our purpose is expressed in our mission statement:, facilitating
missions by the means God provides, advancing His kingdom along the
frontera and into Mexico to the end of introducing people to a new life
in Jesus Christ through the following:
1. First and foremost, providing missionaries working in Mexico and
along the frontera with free accommodations for trips in and out of
Mexico, materials free of charge that they need to run their ministries
effectively and most of all, be a place of , peace, rest, relaxation
and spiritual and emotional rejuvenation and support.
2. To help mission teams in sharing the love of Jesus Christ with those
who don’t know Him by assisting them in any way we can to fulfill the
purpose of their outreaches.
3. To provide missionaries and groups with the basic provisions of good
meals and safe, secure facilities in a Christian environment, giving
them the physical and spiritual strength needed to further their
ministries.
4. To teach American Christians what missionaries do and help them
understand their commitment, work and lifestyle, resulting in a better
understanding of how to effectively pray for missionaries and their
ministries, possibly even receiving and surrendering to the call of
full time missions or Christian service.
5. To expose American Christians to another culture and help them develop a burden for a lost world.
